What our customers are saying

Below are letters from some of our most ardent customers. We love receiving moving testimonials from customers about the lasting, positive effects that our tours have had on them. Here are just a selection:

Traveling the Yucatan with Fitzmaurice Tours was quite possibly the BEST decision I have ever made. From the moment we booked (29) with this tour company we knew we were going to be in GREAT hands. I personally have travelled over 50000 miles this year alone. The immersion that took place in the Yucatan Peninsula stands miles above any experience I have had this year, or for my entire life. The authentic passion our guide has for the land and the people here is immediately noticed. Spending 10 days with this guide not only did I take home a whole new perspective on the Mayan people but a new respect for the great nation of Mexico. I understand their people, economy and culture with a first person perspective. The greatest experience of all was watching the transformation of our youth into world travelers. The amount of knowledge we were given was simply immeasurable. Every need, concern and question was attended to promptly and professionally. In a world as foreign as the ocean floor Fitzmaurice Tours equipped us with the tools and wisdom to not just survive an immersion experience...but to thrive in it! I left the Yucatan utterly and completely changed. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BOOKING AND TRAVELING with FITZMAURICE TOURS. They set the bar higher than your expectations will ever reach. If you are fluent in Spanish or can't speak a word of it...not only will you be comfortable, safe, and secure! You will be blessed beyond belief with wisdom knowledge and understanding of a culture and a people still hidden by the Jungles and it's ways. I went expecting much less than what I received and left with so much more than pictures ever could share. I have a connection and lifelong friend in Alex our personal guide. Support the People of the Yucatan and you will leave invested in telling their story. I would not consider any other tour company for travels in The Yucatan Peninsula.

Please contact me if you have questions or would like to know more about our experience.

My wife and I had the most unforgettable vacation while we visited Yucatan, Mexico and there is no way we could say that without the amazing Fitzmaurice Tours. These guys go out of their way to make sure that you have the trip of lifetime and see this beautiful state and country with the love and the appreciation that they have for it. This was our first trip to Mexico and it will definitely not be our last.. Not only do they give an educational and fun-filled tour but they take the time to get to know you personally and I can happily say that I believe we have made life-long friends with the guides of Fitzmaurice Tours. Keep up the great work and we can not wait for our next trip with you.

If you have any questions about my experience with Fitzmaurice Tours, please do not hesitate to contact me.

My Spanish Class recently took a trip to the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. Fitzmaurice Tours took our class all around the Peninsula and our tour guide Alejandro did an excellent job! He took us all around the area to various beaches, restaurants, ruins, and other venues in the area. Not only did I have a great time, I learned a lot about Mexican and Mayan culture. Alejandro always made sure we had fun while we were learning, too. If I were to return to Mexico on another tour, I wouldn't think twice about signing up with Alejandro and Fitzmaurice Tours!

Jake Sawinski

I just traveled with my former high school to Mexico for 10 days and we went through Fitzmaurice Tours! Alex was absolutely incredible! He was very knowledgable and passionate about all parts of our trip. We stayed in 3 different cities and he knew where to tell us to go for the best food, entertainment, and fun! He was always very helpful and solved problems quickly and efficiently! Our hotels were were excellent. He planned everything for us and the activities we did were amazing, such as seeing the pyramids, swimming in cenotes, and going to the beach! I highly recommend going through Fitzmaurice Tours if you plan on going to Mexico! They will plan a trip with awesome sights, fun, and memories!

Charlie Dettmering

My Spanish class recently took a trip to the Yucatan Peninsula with Fitzmaurice Tours and we had a blast! Our tour guide, Alajandro , was awesome! Not only was he highly accommodating to our huge group of 30, but he was also a kindhearted person. Fitzmaurice Tours brought us all over the Yucatan. We saw the Mayan ruins, swam in cenotes, relaxed on beautiful beaches, and learned so much about the Mexican culture. I would highly recommend Fitzmaurice Tours if you're planning on traveling to Mexico!

Rachel Nelson

Fitzmaurice Tours organized my Spanish class trip to the Yucatan Peninsula. This trip changed many of our views on Mexican culture. We went to Chichen-Itza and learned a ton about the Mayan culture. We also got to swim in a cenote, which was very fun and a beautiful sight. Our whole group of 30 learned a lot and we all loved our tour director, Alejandro! Alejandro is very passionate about Mexico and his culture. He is very outgoing and a great person to talk to about pretty much anything. Most of our group was high schoolers, but I would recommend Fitzmaurice Tours to all ages. I would not recommend anybody but Fitzmaurice Tours because of how good the experience was. Mexico is a beautiful country, but I would never go again without going through Fitzmaurice Tours!

Micah Sessler

I have recently partaken in an excursion to the beautiful Yucatan Peninsula with my Spanish class from Wisconsin. We had a great time experiencing the culture, history and people of Mexico. This trip has personally changed my view on Mexico and I would go again if I had opportunity. I would also like to thank Alejandro Fitzmaurice Laviada for being our fantastic tour director, my experience would have been much less enjoyable without him. I would definitely travel with FitzmauriceTours Bestmexicotours again as well, they're the way to go!

Alex Barley

I had recently visited Yucatán Mexico with Fitzmaurice Tours and I had an amazing time! We visited Valladolid, Merida, and lastly Playa Del Carmen. Our tour guide, Alejandro Fitzmaurice Laviada, led us through different areas of the Yucatán so we could experience various tourist attractions such as the pyramids and the cenotes. I STRONGLY recommend traveling with Fitzmaurice Tours due to the fact that you will be flooded with knowledgable information about the city, the people, the buildings, and etc! The tour guide is very intelligent and will answer any question you have! If you are looking to have a good time and enjoy your vacation yet still learn about a different culture then Fitzmaurice Tours is the way to go!!

Dear Future Traveler,

My name is Janelle Gegg.  I am a Spanish teacher in Diller-Odell, Nebraska. During the summer of 2014, I had the opportunity to take a group of students on such a memorable tour of the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico with Fitzmaurice Tours

Traveling with Fitzmaurice Tours is an experience you'll never forget! From the moment I contacted them, to the minute my students and I departed on tour, they helped me create my tour, recruit participants, and answer all my questions. And they manage all the details – from student payments to booking confirmations and everything in between – so you can focus on enjoying your tour.

While on the trip, my students and I enjoyed every aspect of the tour.  We learned so many things about the geography, culture and history of the Yucatan in a hands-on way that made it interesting and unforgettable. Fitzmaurice Tours staff did a wonderful job planning a tour that had the right balance of education, authenticity, and relaxation. Our enthusiastic and charismatic bilingual Tour Director was with us every step of the way, sharing knowledge about the Yucatan, streamlining the logistics like check-in and archaeological sites tickets, and ensuring in countless ways that we had the experience of a lifetime. We also enjoyed our bus driver. He was a conscientious driver with a great personality.

I highly recommend traveling with Fitzmaurice Tours. They strive to get you the most value for your money. Each of their tour itineraries are designed as a “complete” travel package, including all the elements which make for a care-free time in Mexico – all you need to do is sit back and enjoy!

Please contact me if you have questions or would like to know more about our experience.

Teachers from East Hampton High School, CT highly recommend Fitzmaurice Tours

Dear Future Traveler,

We traveled to the Yucatan for the first time with Fitzmaurice Tours from April 9 to April 16, 2014; it was a phenomenal trip! We had traveled with another leading educational tour company prior to traveling with Fitzmaurice Tours and can honestly say that the tour that they planned was far superior!

Our Tour Director Alejandro, personally met us at the airport and stayed with us throughout our entire trip.  He made sure that every need was met and that the trip was a memorable trip for our students.  We were completely immersed in the Mayan culture and the food. The guides he hired for both Chichen Itza and Uxmal made the visits to the sites even more spectacular. They were filled with passion and had so much knowledge that our students were completely enthralled with their presentations of the sites. Our tour itinerary was wonderful!  We were busy the entire time we were in Mexico, but still had time to relax and enjoy the beaches in Progreso and Playa del Carmen.

The students really loved the visit that Alejandro arranged to the Mayan village where they were able to interact with a Mayan family. They were able to pick oranges from a tree, make tortillas and learn some Mayan words. Many of them felt this was the highlight of their trip! Every step of the trip was meticulously planned. There was a perfect mix of learning and fun for our students. The students came out of the experience with a great appreciation for the Mexican culture and its people.

Mr. Alejandro Fitzmaurice, founder and CEO of Fitzmaurice Tours, and all the operational staff really are perfectionists!  They hand pick every meal, every hotel, and then make completely sure that everything is perfect.  The hotels were beautiful, the food was phenomenal, and the activities were completely age appropriate for our high school students.

The price that Fitzmaurice Tours quoted was very reasonable and included nearly everything.  We really believe that they provided the students more for their money than other companies would have ever provided.

In closing, we highly recommend Fitzmaurice Tours!!!! Their perfectionism and their professionalism make this company superior to other tour companies. If you would like to hear more about our trip, please feel free to contact,,

I've done considerable traveling (much of it with students) during the past half-century, and I can say that Fitzmaurice Tours is absolutely the best tour company for Mexico (especially the Yucatan). At Fitzmaurice Tours, they are experts at making educational travel to Mexico affordable, reliable, safe, and most of all, fun! Their carefully selected tour itineraries provide groups of virtually any size/age with incredible opportunities to discover the history, archaeology and culture of Mexico. Furthermore, if you don’t find the exact combination of destinations, sights or activities that your group needs, they will gladly help you modify one of their pre-set itineraries, or create and entirely new one to wherever in Mexico you would like to go. No experienced traveler could be disappointed with the cost or quality of their tours.

Take a look at their website  and contact me if you'd like more info about why I stopped recommending any other tour company for Mexico once this one had been created.

My name is Anke Glover, from Winchester, UK. I would like to thank Fitzmaurice Tours for arranging our wonderful week of touring in Yucatan during July 2014. My husband Mark, son Dennis, daughter Megan and myself thoroughly enjoyed the tour, seeing all the Mayan sites and learning a lot about the Mayan culture and Mexican history. We had a very knowledgeable guide in Ricardo (the best!) and Raymundo was also extremely helpful and a very experienced driver. The pair became part of the family after a very short time. We especially liked the Mayan sites of Chichen Itza, Ek-Balam, Kabah, Uxmal and Coba and the kids and us enjoyed climbing all the steps to get the best views! The hotels provided by Fitzmaurice Tours were very good, we enjoyed the Hotel de Meson del Marques in Valladolid especially and the stay in Merida was enhanced by the evening out with Alejandro Fitzmaurice and his family at an authentic Mayan restaurant. Alejandro, Founder and President of Fitzmaurice Tours, has twenty two years of experience in educational travel to Mexico.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Fitzmaurice Tours to anyone, we had a fabulous experience and the tailor-made itinerary  meant, we saw exactly what we wanted to and more!!!

Feel free to contact me if you want to hear more about our trip and about the superior quality of the services provided by Fitzmaurice Tours.

My trip to the Yucatan in June 2014 was organized by Fitzmaurice Tours. Each day is delightfully filled with friendship, activities, history and beautiful sites. If you’re interested in colonial history … if you want to swim in turquoise blue Caribbean seas (or Cenote Ik-Kil!), and enjoy sunshine and warmth … if you are interested in ancient Mayan ruins and colonial history … it’s all here. Fitzmaurice Tours put together a perfectly-planned trip for our party. This is not your usual “by the book” tour. This is a trip guided by people who know and love the Yucatan. We ate authentic Mayan meals while watching traditional dance, and toured a Mayan village. I cannot say enough about the ruins - Chichen Itza, Tulum, Uxmal - all breathtakingly beautiful and mysterious. Colonial Merida and Valladolid were wonderful cities to visit, as was Progreso. Isla Mujeres was a marvelous island destination for shopping, sunbathing, and snorkeling with sharks if you dare! All in all, I can say that when you travel with Fitzmaurice Tours, you will go home with memories to last a lifetime.

If you have any questions about my experience with Fitzmaurice Tours, please do not hesitate to contact me.

A group of friends and I visited the Yucatan Mexico in 2013 because we wanted to see the famous Mayan pyramids of Chichen Itza and the colonial cities of Merida and Izamal. It was our first time to travel to the Yucatan all the way from the PHILIPPINES. I googled on line to check on tour companies that provided trips to the Yucatan and of all the lists that came out on line it was Fitzmaurice Tours the one I found very interesting so I booked our tour with them and glad I did because they exceeded all my expectations. Upon arrival at the airport in Merida, Fitzmaurice Tours staff greeted us and assisted with the transfer to our hotel. The guide Fitzmaurice Tours assigned for us to tour around Merida, Izamal and Chichen Itza was very knowledgeable and extremely passionate about the history.

If you’re looking for a tour company to guide you through the wonders of the Yucatan, I recommend that you travel with Fitzmaurice Tours. You won’t regret it! If you have any questions about my experience with Fitzmaurice Tours, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Let your worries go, and travel with the best! From beginning to end they took care of everything. Ten in my group and was concerned about getting a group that size from one place to the next etc.. Not one problem!! We definitely will be using Fitzmaurice Tours again and soon, family is already discussing our next trip as it was our best vacay yet!

THANK YOU Fitzmaurice Tours for making our trip to the Yucatan so enjoyable, keep up the great work!

Please contact me if you have questions or would like to know more about our experience.

We have been traveling to the Yucatan Mexico with Fitzmaurice Tours since 2007. I can tell you that all our trips with them have been phenomenal! It's obvious that a lot of time and thought goes into the preparations for any of their trips. They make it easy for you to make plans, from customizing the itinerary to collecting students' payments. There is nothing mediocre about any aspect of the trip when you travel with Fitzmaurice Tours. The hotel accommodations are always very nice, some are even historical or of resort quality and may be all inclusive. That's great for a bunch of hungry teenagers. The tour guides and tour directors are knowledgeable and extremely passionate about the history of their country.

It is sometimes difficult to keep students interested during an educational tour, but when the guides begin to speak, the students really do listen. If you are new to traveling, you should know that the tour director remains with your group at all times, day and night.

If you are looking for an educational travel company for your group, I suggest you look no further. Fitzmaurice Tours is, by far, the best company to arrange your travel plans. We will always travel with them!

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

[The comments below refer to a three-day trip which included guided tours of the colonial city of Valladolid, Rio Lagartos National Park, the underground water formation of Cenote IkKil, and the ancient Mayan cities of Ek-Balam, Chichen Itza, Coba, and Tulum.]

Fitzmaurice Tours services during our tour were excellent.  [Our guide] Ricardo's knowledge of the Mayan culture and history was astounding, and I am convinced there was a shaman in our midst.  Raymundo was a most professional and personable driver, the van was first-rate, and our accommodations exceeded our expectations.  Our day spent in the Rio Lagartos wildlife area was a great adventure with a terrific guide.  Owner Alejandro Fitzmaurice's extra time and attention in making sure the restaurants we visited were able to provide gluten-free yet delicious meals in response to Ruth's dietary restrictions were also very much appreciated.  Thanks to him and his staff at Fitzmaurice Tours for making our trip to the Yucatan so enjoyable.

Best regards,

Mike and Ruth

Dear Traveler,

My name is Leslie Bieber, I am a Spanish teacher in Montana and North Dakota. In 2001, I decided to take a group of students to Mexico, using a well-known student travel organization.  The experience was very rewarding, and I knew I wanted to do it again. I took 4 more trips with this same travel company.

As much as I loved taking groups to Mexico, I was becoming discouraged because the quality of each trip got progressively worse. Each time I took a group of students to Mexico I thought about what could make the next trip better.

In June 2010 and June 2011, I decided to book trips to the Yucatan Mexico with Fitzmaurice Tours, a tour operator founded and run by travel professionals who have been operating cultural and educational tours to Mexico for over 22 years. I completely enjoyed everything about the tours. The hotels were very nice, updated and clean. The all inclusive hotel in Playa del Carmen was tremendous!!! The food was authentic yet with a good variety for all taste buds. Plus Fitzmaurice Tours is the only company that I know of that includes drinks with the meals. The guided tours were wonderful, full of information and still allowed free time for the students to explore areas on their own. Both trips have been a truly unforgettable experience.

Mr. Alejandro Fitzmaurice, the owner, has put together a great tour company! He and all the staff perfectly manage all the details, from student payments to booking confirmations and everything in between, so you can focus on enjoying your tour.

My trips with Fitzmaurice Tours exceeded all my expectations. I can’t imagine using any other company in the future.  I strongly recommend Fitzmaurice Tours. If you have any questions about my experience with Fitzmaurice Tours, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Enjoy your trip!

Leslie Bieber

Dear Future Travelers,

My name is Valerie Diaz and I am a Spanish teacher in a small town, in Northeast Wisconsin.  I have been traveling to the Yucatan since 1994, both as a student and a teacher and I can never get enough of it!  If you are looking for a company that will exceed your expectations for your students and yourself, there is no better company than Fitzmaurice Tours. Period.

I did what all teachers do when they want to travel with students, I searched the internet and found the most affordable trip I could and learned the hard way that you get what you pay for.  From time restraints to tour guides leaving, hotels that were not top notch (which many promise 4 and 5 star hotels, when they are really more like 2 to 3 stars), I knew I needed to find a better company if I continued to take students to the Yucatan. I can tell you, Fitzmaurice Tours has made up for every bad experience I previously had, when traveling.

Alejandro Fitzmaurice, the President and owner, works extremely hard to make sure we and you will have the best trip ever, every single trip! Alejandro chooses your hotels and restaurants carefully and you won’t be disappointed in neither the accommodations, food, sites you visit or activities you choose.

In the past, what I have done is gone from Valladolid to Merida and back up the coast via the Riviera Maya. Per Alejandro’s suggestion, I decided to forego Cancun and try a new place in Playa del Carmen. I can tell you, the hotel in Playa (the Wyndham Viva Maya) was perfect for me and my students!  All of the hotels met my expectations and then some.

Alejandro is extremely flexible, you can choose an itinerary‚ or if you’ve been there and you know your students and their tension spans, you can make your own itinerary, with suggestions that he gives. He himself, or your chosen tour director, will be with you and your students every step of the way. Your trip will give your students a better cultural experience than any other company out there‚ guaranteed!

I would welcome the chance to talk with anyone about Fitzmaurice Tours so please feel free to email me at or call me at 715-587-5375 or 715-330-5121.

Valerie A. Diaz

Dear Fellow Travelers:

I had the opportunity to travel with Fitzmaurice Tours in March 2008 along with my group of 22 middle school girls from New Jersey on the “Aztec and Mayan Treasures” tour that began in Mexico City and concluded on the Yucatan peninsula. The company’s owner, Mr. Alejandro Fitzmaurice, personally met us at the airport and made sure that all of our needs were met along the way. He stayed with us during the entire trip to make sure that everything ran smoothly.

Initially, I was considering some of the larger student travel companies that tend to predominate in the market, but after reading numerous reviews I became increasingly concerned that those popular travel companies would not be able to provide adequate attention and personalized service given their cookie-cutter programs. I was also concerned about the hidden fees and extra expenses that other companies seemed to spring on their travelers.

Fortunately, I happened across the Fitzmaurice Tours website while surfing the internet. The Aztec and Mayan Treasures tour immediately caught my attention and interest, and our Travel Consultant was able to personalize several aspects of the tour to meet some specific travel needs of my group. Their excellent attention to detail was a great relief.

At no time did I have concerns about the safety of the students. Mr. Fitzmaurice, his colleagues, and the tour guides were constantly vigilant of the group whether we were walking around Mexico City, climbing a pyramid, shopping, or simply eating in a restaurant. The tour guides that Fitzmaurice Tours provided were very personable and extremely knowledgeable about all of places we visited. The food was delicious at every restaurant, and by the end of the trip we had all gained a greater appreciation of the rich culture and history of our neighbors to the south.

So if you’re looking for a tour company to guide you through the wonders of Mexico, I recommend that you travel with Fitzmaurice Tours. You won’t regret it! I will definitely travel with Fitzmaurice Tours on my next student trip to Mexico. If you have any questions about my experience with Fitzmaurice Tours, please do not hesitate to contact me.

The tours provided by Fitzmaurice Tours are fascinating. They synthesize education with entertainment, tourism with local knowledge, and careful planning with flexibility. By the end of our tour, our faculty, students, and parents were clapping wildly and cheering for Alejandro Fitzmaurice, the director, praising him for the incredible success of our tour. Alejandro and all the office staff labored months before, planning and preparing to excite and educate our group. On our tour, Alejandro paid unwavering attention to each need and interest of our group. Alongside Alejandro, our supporting tour guides brought humor, local knowledge, impressive scholarship, and passion to their work. In just a few days, Alejandro and the tour guides had won our hearts. We cannot wait until we can return to the Yucatan, to smell the sweet air, dine on local food, climb the ruins, dive in the Cenote, and swim in the Caribbean. But, most of all, we cannot wait to see Alejandro and his family, again. Thank you, Alejandro, we miss you and your beautiful Yucatan.

Every year we take our 6th graders to the Yucatan as part of their social studies and literature coursework. It is an amazing opportunity for them. I love how history comes alive to them as they interact with Mayan families, walk ancient temple grounds, read glyphs at the ball court, eat local food, and experience modern life in the Yucatan. Our students learn so much and make personal connections to history and literature in ways we could not duplicate in the classroom. Fitzmaurice Tours makes our annual trip the highlight of the year. The accommodations are comfortable, the tour guides extremely knowledgeable and personable, transportation is impeccable, and our travel arrangements are detailed and flawless. With Fitzmaurice Tours I never worry. Everything is always taken care of, allowing me to concentrate on my students and their experience. I highly recommend them.

Dear Traveler

My name is Marianne Sheppeck.  I am a Spanish teacher in Athens Pennsylvania.   During the summer of 2008, a fellow teacher and myself took a group of students to the Yucatan with Fitzmaurice Tours.  I have traveled to Mexico on 4 other occasions with groups of students. During these trips, I used well-known student based travel organizations. I can honestly say that the trips that I have taken in the past do not remotely compare in quality to the trip that I took with Fitzmaurice Tours.

I found that Fitzmaurice Tours staff went above and beyond to make this trip a most memorable one for my students. The hotels we stayed in were very nice.  The food was fantastic. I have stayed in some hotels in the past that were not of good quality. I did not find that with Fitzmaurice Tours.

It was obvious to me that a lot of time and planning went into our trip.  There were many “extras” during the trip that made a world of difference for the students. This trip was well organized down to the minute. The kids were always busy and entertained. Our tour guide was always there for us if we needed him. He constantly kept on top of things to make sure things went smoothly and that we were happy.

My trip with Fitzmaurice Tours exceeded all my expectations.  I can’t imagine using any other company in the future.  I strongly recommend Fitzmaurice Tours. You will have a stress free, enjoyable, memorable experience with Fitzmaurice Tours, as will your students.

So, if you are looking for a trip with a “personal touch”, this is the company for you. If you have any questions, comments or concerns feel free to e-mail me at the address below. I hope that you too will make the decision to use Fitzmaurice Tours. As far as I am concerned it is the best and only choice..

Marianne Sheppeck

Spanish Teacher

Athens Area High School

Dear Traveler,

Hello, I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Richard Nagel. I am a Spanish teacher at Pequot Lakes High School in Pequot Lakes, Minnesota. I am writing you on behalf of Fitzmaurice Tours.

First let me give you a bit of background. I have made 4 different trips with students to the Yucatan Peninsula in the past 8 years. I have arranged trips myself and I have used the services of other tour companies to make these trips. My most recent trip was from March 21-March 28, 2005. I chose to use Fitzmaurice Tours, to handle all the arrangements. It was the best trip I’ve ever made!

My fellow teacher, Jim Boos, and I chaperoned 33 of our junior and senior Spanish students. We stayed in Cancun, Merida, and Cozumel. Our accommodations were excellent. Our cuisine was outstanding. Every meal was authentic Mexican food except for the one night that we dined in a restored 17th century mansion. We had a Mediterranean-style beefsteak prepared by an Austrian chef and a Swiss Sous-Chef! If you’ve ever traveled with teenagers, you know that they can be mighty picky about what they eat. Almost all of our students loved every meal we had, which was extraordinary! In addition, we had a few nights when Fitzmaurice Tours hired either a trio or a group of Mariachis to play for us. The kids loved it!

Our tour director for the trip was David Escalante. He was with us 24/7, from the moment that we arrived in Cancun until we left the airport in Cozumel. David is a wonderful tour director. He relates extremely well to the students. He is attentive to their needs. He has a great sense of humor. He is an experienced tour director. He has led dozens of tours in Mexico. He has lived many years in both Cancun and Merida, so he is very knowledgeable about how things work in Mexico. In my estimation, he is the ideal tour director.

During the trip, I had the opportunity to get to know the owner of Fitzmaurice Tours, Mr. Alejandro Fitzmaurice. Alejandro has put together a great tour company! Since he is the owner, he attends extremely well to all the details of the trip. He makes sure that everything runs smoothly. Alejandro strives for perfection and it shows in the day-to-day reality of the tour. He hired a very competent bus operator. He hired the very best guides for our tours of Chichen Itza, Uxmal, and Merida. The hotels we stayed in were excellent, and the food was authentic and tasty. In addition, Alejandro shadowed us during parts of the trip, making sure everything ran smoothly. He is a very competent, hard-working man. The woman who handled our trip payments, Diane Chiprany, was extremely competent.

In closing, then, I chose Fitzmaurice Tours for several reasons:

1) they are a tour company specializing only in tours to Mexico;

2) the tour director was great;

3) the owner is a meticulous person who is very attentive to details;

4) inclusions: our trip included more for the money than we would have received anywhere else;

5) size: Fitzmaurice Tours is a small company determined to give its best value for the money spent.

Dear Future Travelers:

I have been traveling with my students for the past 4 years. I previously used other student travel companies, before using Fitzmaurice Tours. Let me tell you there is a big difference. You definitely feel a more personal experience when you travel with Fitzmaurice Tours. I have been extremely pleased with the service and accommodations that they provide. There is no other tour company that I am aware of where you actually meet the owner, Mr. Alejandro Fitzmaurice, who is always in touch with your tour and willing to make any changes that may be necessary, so that your trip is exactly what you were looking for. For me it is a relief to work with a company that adds that personal touch. If my students were not pleased I would not be traveling with Fitzmaurice Tours again in June, 2007. I strongly suggest that when you decide to travel with students or others, you should definitely consider this company!!!

Dear Future Traveler,

I would just like to say what a wonderful experience we had with Fitzmaurice Tours. Since one of my daughters lives in Merida, Yucatan; I decided to bring a group of close middle-aged friends there so that they could experience the culture of the country where my daughter lives. They were all pretty excited and nervous of course once we boarded the airplane. However once we landed all of nervousness was gone. We were met by Mr. Alejandro Fitzmaurice, and the coach driver, Raymundo, at the airport. After that all of our expectations were exceeded. We stayed at wonderful hotels. The food was very delicious, especially the dinners. The sites we saw, like Chichen Itza, Isla Mujeres, and who could forget Tulum, left us speechless. We were also provided with a bonus, the entertainment both our driver Raymundo as well as tour director Alejandro had great senses of humor which made the somewhat long rides seem not so long. In short, I would highly recommend Fitzmaurice tours not only for their professionalism, but for the close attention to detail that is given to each and every one of their tours.

Dear Future Travelers:

Recently, I led a group on Fitzmaurice Tours Adventure in Yucatan. I can't say enough good things about this tour. So much attention was paid to the most minute details by Fitzmaurice Tours staff that I felt that we were treated like guests in someone's home. The hotels that we stayed at were beyond my expectations and the restaurants chosen were an excellent representation of typical Mexican cuisine. There was plenty of opportunity to take in the ancient culture on this tour and still experience the flavor of the modern-day life of the Yucatan Peninsula. I was especially impressed with the visit to a Mayan family in Santa Elena. My students still talk about seeing the t ortillas made by hand and the man who made rope from a plant in just a few minutes. Those are things that they may never experience again in their lifetime and that infuse me, as a Spanish teacher, with excitement, energy, and commitment to continue traveling with students. The last couple of days in the sun and sand (and shopping!) at Cozumel were the perfect end to the tour. Our trip was so wonderful that I am planning another tour with Fitzmaurice Tours for next spring!

To Whom It May Concern:

If you are considering a group trip in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico, I would recommend without hesitation the services of Fitzmaurice Tours which is owned and operated by Alejandro Fitzmaurice. My daughter and I had the pleasure to be members of a group which traveled to the Yucatan from 6/24/03 to 07/01/03. The tour was planned and well run. The sites Fitzmaurice Tours chose for us to visit were very interesting and illustrated both the Mayan and Spanish influence in the Yucatan. Our bus transportation was always on time, clean and reliable. The bus was first class with air conditioning, reclining seats and restroom. Without exception, the hotels were clean with room assignments and keys ready upon our arrival. Baggage was delivered promptly to our rooms and picked up reliably on our departure. Meals were excellent and served on time. At the Mayan sites of Chichen Itza and Uxmal the licensed guide selected by Fitzmaurice Tours was extremely knowledgeable about Mayan culture and history with command of English that was so good that we never had any trouble understanding what he was explaining to us. We swam in a spectacular fresh-water spring in a cave. We had the opportunity to visit a Mayan family in the present-day Mayan village of Santa Elena. The beaches at Isla Mujeres were a chance to relax and the snorkeling trip was a highlight of our tour. The Tour Director was trustworthy and reliable, always courteous, patient and attentive to the details that made the trip run smoothly.

In short, I can recommend Fitzmaurice Tours to you based on my personal experience with one of its tours. If you have a question, you can call me at (314) 968-0434 and would be happy to speak to you.

I can't thank Fitzmaurice Tours enough for making all the arrangements for our wonderful trip to the Yucatan from February 15 to February 22, 2005. The mother/daughter idea was a fantastic one. There were so many magical moments on this great journey that were shared by moms and daughters together. Everyone had the best time. Whether it was our delicious Valentines dinner at Villa Maria and horse drawn carriage ride with our daughters in Merida, climbing the pyramids at Chichen Itza and Uxmal, or snorkeling at XelHa, all the parents were thrilled to share these moments with their daughters. The girls also had plenty of time to "hang" with their friends, shopping, riding in the bus, sharing hotel rooms and swimming. The moms also had fun getting to know each other and many great conversations happened on the bus and at meals. Our hotel accommodations were great and the bus we had on tour was a private deluxe motorcoach with air conditioning and restroom.

Thanks again for making our trip such a terrific one.

Dear Traveler,

I have traveled with Fitzmaurice Tours twice in the past and am hoping to travel with them again in the future. I have never had any tour company work so hard to make our Mexico tour a pleasant experience.

Both of my tours were well-organized and the tour guides were very knowledgeable and extremely pleasant. Our accommodations were very nice and the food was excellent. The tour bus was clean, air-conditioned, and the bus driver was very professional. I especially enjoyed my stays in Valladolid and Merida.

I just cannot say enough good things about Fitzmaurice Tours and hope that this will help in your decision to travel with them. I think my choice to travel with them on more than one occasion in the past and my plans to travel with them in the future are the best testimony I can give.

I can recommend Fitzmaurice Tours without reservation and would be happy to answer additional questions.

Dear Traveler,

My name is Elizabeth Sweeney and I am a Spanish teacher at Whitefield Academy in Atlanta, Georgia. On behalf of Alejandro Fitzmaurice and Fitzmaurice Tours, I would like to tell you a little bit about my excellent experiences in traveling with my students to Mexico. I chose Fitzmaurice Tours for two reasons: one was based on an excellent recommendation from a family here who traveled to the Yucatan with Fitzmaurice Tours, and the other reason was the personal attention to detail that they were able to offer us. I originally looked into EF, which is a very large educational tour company, and I decided to change to Fitzmaurice Tours simply because of their willingness to bend over backwards to accommodate every detail that was important to me. They even allowed me to make changes in the itinerary and allowed my input on certain hotels and restaurants with which I was familiar.

Before the trip, our Fitzmaurice Tours coordinator, Diane Chiprany, attended to every detail regarding preparation for the trip. She came over to the school personally to give a presentation and orientation to parents, and was there every step of the way to make sure I was properly preparing the students for travel to Mexico. Three other chaperones and I took 19 students on a tour originating in Mexico City and heading westward to our final destination, Puerto Vallarta.

Alejandro was our Tour Director, and I was utterly amazed at how easy he made my job. From picking up cases of bottled water for the bus to holding onto all the kids' passports and traveler's checks, to even paying for his own cab across town into the middle of Guanajuato to track down the right medicine for a girl who became ill halfway through the trip. Alejandro was extremely knowledgeable about the places we visited, which was very important to me, as it was an educational trip.

To sum up, I wanted for nothing throughout the entire trip. I cannot think of one thing that was lacking or that could have been improved. I am so thoroughly impressed with this tour company that I know we will always use them for our Spanish trips at Whitefield. I strongly recommend Fitzmaurice Tours to you. You will not be disappointed if you travel with them. If there is anything else I can do to help you in your decision, please do not hesitate to contact me. Trips like these are truly experiences of a lifetime.
